Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activated polypeptide 38 (PACAP38) is a cardioprotective agent that may help treat radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD). It plays a protective role in cardiomyocyte oxidative stress. PACAP38 has antioxidant, anti-apoptotic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is associated with the pathophysiology of migraine and cluster headaches. |
