Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring linear anionic polysaccharide consisting of repeating disaccharide units. It forms an important component of articular cartilage and is widely distributed in the connective tissues of mammals. Chemically, hyaluronic acid consists of d -glucuronic acid and 2-acetamido-2-deoxy- d -glucose monosaccharide units. |
