| L-Carnosine is important for the body because it acts as a natural anti-oxidant. This means that it essentially neutralizes or destroys any free radicals. Free radicals, are basically atoms that can damage certain parts of DNA or the cell membrane itself. This results in cells decreasing in function and eventually dying off. To prevent this issue from occurring, L-Carnosine actually attacks and destroys these free radicals when they are present within the body. In this process, Carnosine will help prevent the binding of a sugar molecule (glucose for example) to a protein or a lipid. |
